I love creating designs from requests for commissions. Sometimes the item commissioned is a gift for a special person. Sometimes the commission is of a four legged ‘family member’. Often an ornament, and not just for the holiday tree. Sometimes a special event card: birthday, anniversary, wedding. I have even managed to do 130 5” X 8” stand alone cards for a wedding banquet based on each person’s ‘favorite animal’!
I will work with you to design an image (from photos you email to me) that best portrays the personality or individual qualities of that special someone or event. I create multiples of the image so that you can choose which one best represents.
An example: I had already designed a 4” version of a Great Dane (for that wedding banquet I just mentioned). I was approached by someone to create a 6” ornament of a Great Dane, named Sophie. Sophie turned out to be a ‘mantle merle’ color, whose ears had been left natural. The images I received were a running Sophie, a close-up of Sophie’s face and a ‘resting’ Sophie. I needed to apply aspects of all three images to the generic image I had previously developed. I used various patterned papers, and eventually added glitter to a couple of them, with four to show the customer.
Pricing depends on several factors, complexity of design (not size) being the most significant. Yes, there is sales tax (Maine is 5.5%) and handling and shipping costs (which amounts to a four mile drive to the local post office and a large envelope with stiff cardboard that often needs only a single first class stamp.
